Color me cautiously optimistic. It looks as though they may have a cohesive design language going. The Malibu desperately needs a good redo and it sounds like their stretching the wheelbase and giving it more interior room which ones one of the biggest flaws of the current one. Also a good look at the Camaro's silhouette.

Chevy needs to ditch the big FWD Impala and replace it with the Caprice in retail sales. They also need to offer a base V6 version of the SS. A wagon and a ute would be nice, too.

Then they need to give us the Cruze diesel hatchback and wagon and manual versions, too.

And of course, a redesigned Camaro with t-tops and windows.

We have, in order from back to front: Chevrolet Volt, Chevrolet Sonic, Chevrolet Camaro, Chevrolet Malibu and Chevrolet Cruze.

Pretty much Chevrolet's entire passenger car line up other than the Spark and the Impala.

Question is, when are these getting introduced? I know the Malibu is for the New York Auto Show. The Camaro might also get introduced at New York.

The front-most car is the Cruze, followed by the Malibu and Camaro, and then the Volt. The rearmost car could be the Sonic, based on the looks of the refreshed Chinese-market Aveo, but I think it could be the recently-spotted refreshed Spark - it doesn't seem to have the character line at the rear, though.

been waiting for the Camaro unveiling for some time now. Excited to see what they do with it. Early guess, lighter and more powerful than the Mustang.

If it was German they'd call it a coupe, hell they'd probably call it a four door hardtop roadster.

I think the Malibu is up front and the Cruze is opposite the Camaro. I could be wrong it's pretty hard to gauge size on this.

We've already seen the Volt, so maybe the Cruze, Malibu, and Sonic/Spark at NY. No clue when the Camaro will drop, but I'm dying to see it.

It's probably a Sonic hybrid or EV.

I've been wanting them to consolidate the Impala with the Commodore since before the G8 came out. The likelihood of a wagon and/or ute is pretty slim, but a V6 doesn't seem too far fetched.

I'm actually kinda interested in a volt. It's mostly a normal sedan, but going short distance to work and around town would be on electricity until you run out and it switches to gas. I could probably not use gas most of the week.

Nah, the impala is selling well. The caprice and SS are too expensive to make since they're built in Australia and no one wants them. They don't even get the cop sales. They're buying chargers and explorers.

Kinja'd!!!0

They can simply transfer Caprice/SS production to the US.

Some government agencies have contracts that only allow them to buy North American-made cars.

Also, since the Caprice isn't sold to retail customers, it makes them useless as undercover/unmarked cars since people know there aren't any civilians driving them so therefore it MUST be a cop.

In regards to the Charger, that's what I've been saying! GM and Ford seem to be totally unaware of its existence. It's like, where the fuck have they BEEN for the past 10 years?

Just FYI, it is actually very difficult to just drop in production tooling for a whole new chassis and body structure and powertrain family into a plant. This is why you see plants often using the same architecture and powertrains for the variety of cars they make. If you make a mid-sized sedan, making the crossover based on it that can use the same engines is easy enough. You already have a system for getting those motors and transmissions, your workforce is trained on how to assemble that chassis, and some of the robots ca be re-purposed quickly enough. Think about it this way - the *only* plant that the commodore sedans would work in is the plant where they build the camaro and even then, the camaro is moving to the ATS platform so production will probably shift too (plus Oshawa is always under consideration to be shut down). The commodore needs those V8s and V6s that the camaro uses and they are on the same platform. Not many other vehicles have them. Holden can do it in Australia in their plants because they produce a couple different cars and bodies using that same chassis and engine options. Bringing it to the US might not save much on parts since it will be difficult to produce.

Best case scenario would be if they stretch the Alpha, like they did for the CTS but bigger, and call that the new Impala. But as previously stated, the current FWD one is selling well enough, so why take the risk?
